Competition Rules

1.The promoter of the Black Tie Day Promo Competition (“the Competition”) is We Buy Cars Ltd (“WeBuyCars”), with registration number 2015/130772/07, a company incorporated in the Republic of South Africa and having its registered address at Building 7, Byls Bridge Boulevard, Highveld, Centurion.

2.All persons entering this Competition (“Participants”) agree to the Competition Terms and Conditions (“these T&Cs”) as set out herein below.

3.Please read these T&Cs carefully, as some of these T&Cs may limit the risk or liability of WeBuyCars or a third party and/or may create a risk or liability for the Participant and/or may compel the Participant to indemnify WeBuyCars or a third party and/or serve as an acknowledgement of the Participant of a fact.

4.The content of these T&Cs is not intended to, or must not be understood to unlawfully restrict, limit or avoid any rights or obligations, as the case may be, created either for WeBuyCars or the Participant in terms of the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (“the Act”) and the Regulations of the Act.

5.By entering the Competition, the Participant acknowledges that he/she has had an opportunity to read these T&Cs and that the Participant understands and agrees to these T&Cs.

6.The Competition will be overseen by an independent third party.

7.All Participants must be older than 18 (eighteen) years. The Participant must have a South African identity document or a valid passport. The Participant must have all of the required documents allowing them to purchase and/or sell a motor vehicle as defined in the National Road Traffic Act, 1996 (“Vehicle” or “Vehicles”) in South Africa.

8.No employee, director, member, partner, agent or consultant or any person directly or indirectly who controls, or is controlled by, WeBuyCars or its holding company and/ or any subsiary of WeBuyCars (“the Group”), and/or immediate family members of any employee, director, member, partner, agent or consultant of or person indirectly or directly in control or controlled by the Group or its agencies, advisers, dealers, suppliers, its affiliates and/or associated companies may enter the Competition.

9.All auction sales will not be eligible for the discounts offered in the Competition. 

10.All Vehicles bought by dealers and wholesalers will not be eligible for discounts offered in the Competition.

11.By buying a Vehicle and qualifying for the Competition, the Participant(s) authorise WeByCars to collect, store and use (but not to share) the personal information of the Participants for the reasons set out in WeByCars’ privacy policy, which is available at https://www.webuycars.co.za/privacy. The Participants are entitled to decline any communication for marketing purposes.

12.The Competition discounts will only apply to Participants purchasing Vehicles via cash or finance i.e., a Vehicle purchased by way of auction is excluded from the Competition.

13.Participants must purchase a Vehicle in cash or finance from 28 November 2025 to 29 November 2025 (“Competition Dates”) to qualify for discounts offered in the Competition.

14.Participants who purchase a Vehicle in cash must pay the net purchase price in full on the same day as the transaction. Failure to make full payment of the net purchase price on the day of the transaction will result in the immediate forfeiture of any discount awarded under the Competition.

15.Participants who arrive dressed in "formal black tie" attire (e.g., tuxedo, dinner jacket, formal suit with black tie, or equivalent formal evening wear) on the day of the Competition may be eligible for a double (x2) discount. The final determination of whether a Participant's attire qualifies as "formal black tie" for the purpose of the double (x2) discount is at the sole and final discretion of the WeBuyCars Branch Manager or authorised representative on duty. No correspondence or disputes will be considered in this regard.

16.Participants in the Competition are eligible to receive random discounts on the purchase price of the Vehicle during the Competition Dates, while discounts last on a first-come come first-served basis. The discounts are applicable to Vehicles purchased in cash (subject to Clause 14) or those purchased on a finance transaction after the offer to purchase was signed by the Participant.

17.The discount awarded by the WeBuyCars system through random allocation is final and binding on the Participant. No correspondence or disputes will be considered in this regard.

18.The discount awarded in terms of the Competition is limited to the full purchase price of the Vehicle as stated on the invoice. If the value of the discount won exceeds the Vehicle’s purchase price, the discount will be capped at the purchase price. No excess discount will be applied or redeemed in cash or other forms.

19.The discount awarded in terms of the Competition is non-transferable and cannot be assigned, sold, or transferred to any other party, individual, or transaction. Additionally, there shall be no variation, modification, or alteration of these T&Cs, unless determined by WeBuyCars. These T&Cs shall remain binding on the Participant.

20.In the event of a transaction cancellation, including cancellations under sections 55 and 56 of the Act, any discount awarded in the Competition will be forfeited by the Participant. Consequently, the Participant shall have no entitlement, in cash or any other form, to the discounted amount. Additionally, the forfeited discount will not be transferable or applicable to any replacement Vehicle or subsequent purchase.

21.The winners will be final, and no communication will be considered in this regard.

22.The winners will be publicly announced through social media platforms, which will include posts containing personal information about the winners. This information may encompass, but is not limited to, photographs, videos and the names of the winners (“personal information”). By entering the Competition, winners provide their consent for the publication of the aforesaid personal information. Winners may withdraw consent for the publication of their personal information by sending an email to [email protected]. However, such withdrawal will not apply to materials already published or distributed before the withdrawal of consent was received.

23.The prizes will be immediately handed over to the winners.

24.The winners undertake to, as fast as possible, do all things necessary to enable WeBuyCars to comply with its obligations in terms of the Act, including, but not limited to, providing such personal information as may be required to facilitate the handing over of the prize.

25.WeBuyCars may refuse to award the prize(s) to any Participant(s) if there is any suspicion of irregularity or fraud.

26.By entering the Competition, all the Participants and the winners indemnify WeBuyCars, including its associated companies, their directors, officers, employees and agents, against any claims for any loss or damages, whether direct, indirect, special, incidental or consequential or otherwise, arising from any cause whatsoever connected to or arising from their participation in any way in this Competition.

27. This Competition is subject to change. WeBuyCars reserves the right to amend these T&Cs, or to suspend or cancel the Competition at any time without prior notice or liability.

7. All Participants must be older than 18 (eighteen) years. The Participant must have a South African identity document or a valid passport. The Participant must have all of the required documents allowing them to sell a motor vehicle as defined in the National Road Traffic Act of 1996 (“Vehicle” or “Vehicles”) in South Africa.
8. No employee, director, member, partner, agent or consultant or any person directly or indirectly who controls, or is controlled by, WeBuyCars or its holding company and/ or any subsidiary of WeBuyCars (“the Group”), and/or immediate family members of any employee, director, member, partner, agent or consultant of or person indirectly or directly in control or controlled by the Group or its agencies, advisers, dealers, suppliers, its affiliates and/or associated companies may enter the Competition.
9. Entries resulting from the sale of a Vehicle by a dealer or wholesaler to WeBuyCars will not be eligible for the Competition.
10. By selling a Vehicle and qualifying for the Competition, the Participant(s) authorise WeBuyCars to collect, store and use (but not to share) the personal information of the Participants for the reasons set out in WeBuyCars’ privacy policy, which is available at https://www.webuycars.co.za/privacy. The Participants are entitled to decline any communication for marketing purposes.
11. A Participant receives 1 (one) automatic entry into the Competition draw for every Vehicle successfully sold to WeBuyCars during the competition dates as set out in Clause 15.
12. The Competition draw is based purely on an entry into a draw for a single prize, being a credit of R200 000 (Two Hundred Thousand Rand), redeemable only against the purchase price of any Vehicle(s) offered for sale by WeBuyCars (“the Prize”). This credit cannot be transferred, assigned, sold, or redeemed for cash in part or in full.
13. The Prize must be used within 6 (six) months of the winner being notified. Any unused portion of the credit after this period will be automatically forfeited.
14. If the purchase price of the Vehicle(s) bought by the winner is less than R200 000 (Two Hundred Thousand Rand), the remaining credit will be forfeited. No change or cash equivalent will be paid out.
15. Participants must successfully sell and transfer ownership of a Vehicle to WeBuyCars from 24 November 2025 to 1 December 2025 (“Competition Dates”) to qualify for entry into the Competition draw. The sale must be fully concluded and the funds must have been successfully transferred to the Participant on or before the end of the Competition Dates.
16. The winner will be selected via a random draw from all eligible entries received during the Competition Dates. The draw will take place on or before 2 December 2025 by an independent third party.
17. The winner of the draw will be final and no correspondence or disputes will be considered in this regard.
18. The winner will be publicly announced through social media platforms, which will include posts containing personal information about the winner. This information may encompass, but is not limited to, photographs, videos and the name of the winner (“personal information”). By entering the Competition, the winner provides their consent for the publication of the aforesaid personal information. The winner may withdraw consent for the publication of their personal information by sending an email to [email protected]. However, such withdrawal will not apply to materials already published or distributed before the withdrawal of consent was received.
19. The winner will be notified via the contact details provided to WeBuyCars during the vehicle sale transaction.
20. The winner undertakes to, as fast as possible, do all things necessary to enable WeBuyCars to comply with its obligations in terms of the Act, including, but not limited to, providing such personal information as may be required to facilitate the granting of the Prize.
21. WeBuyCars may refuse to award the Prize to any Participant if there is any suspicion of irregularity, crime or fraud.
22. By entering the Competition, all the Participants and the winner indemnify WeBuyCars, including its associated companies, their directors, officers, employees and agents, against any claims for any loss or damages, whether direct, indirect, special, incidental or consequential or otherwise, arising from any cause whatsoever connected to or arising from their participation in any way in this Competition.
